Food for thought

I was reading the huge response that Bloggrrl received over her three little blogs post, and it got me to thinking. What do we do when we’ve hit a road bump in the everyday blogging? Do we sit up at night deliriously writing just to be goofy? Thinking that maybe our silly words have fallen into the abyss of the internet?

Maybe that’s when the creativity comes and then you can just run with it. Take the time to think about why you’ve hit a slump and maybe go with it. In writing, we’re told that if we’ve got writer’s block, just write. Write about anything, just write. Creativity will come to you, sooner or later.

Brainstorm. Think of all of the things that you know and the things that you won’t get bored about. Maybe you’re in the wrong niche market, if boredom is something that happens when you write regularly.

Be funny. If you can manage to pull off humor, then go for it. I don’t know how many times I’ve read posts that have literally cracked me up.

If you’ve hit a slump in writing, what tips can you provide to the rest of us that may help us when we’ve hit rock bottom? Any words of encouragement? Would you suggest throwing up a speedlinking post just for the sake of having something?

When I find a slump and can’t think of anything I write about news stories that get to me. Or I will give out link love to pass the word on about some great blogs out there. It rare that I am at a loss for words though. LOL

On the rare occassion I’ve been lost for words, I start the post by saying ‘I’ve got nothing to say, yadda about something boring that happened on the day, which puts me on a tangent, then seem to manage get a post out of it!

Geez, I’ve written the contents of my handbag once! And you’re right, putting a little humour in it helps.

I’m in a slump of a different nature. We’ve been fairly prolific in our blogging on 2Dolphins over the past few months, yet our traffic is only increasing marginally and not many readers are leaving comments. It can get a little discouraging to write what you think to be solid stuff but get so little feedback…

I’m eager for suggestions on how to garner more reader input and maybe a little additional traffic.

If you haven’t already, I’d consider removing the nofollow from your site. That may help. I also get out there and comment on sites that I read a lot. Especially if the blog has the mybloglog widget….I love checking that thing for some reason :D

I have blogs where I do emply techniques to “just write”. I have others where I am so very soncerned with high quality content that I would rather just post less often.

I don’t know if it’s just me, but when I find that I’m at a loss as to what to write, I eat. When my tummy’s full, I find that it’s easier for me to think up things that I want to write about. :D

I find that as long as i’m being myself, writing about stuff which interests me then I come up with something or other.

I have found that it is hard to not have something to say. I would love to write 10 posts a day if I could. I have to keep myself to 2 – 3

I am like Carl, I could post five or more times a day, but I’m afraid that I would bore my readers.
