An advantage to this is that you're likely to get visitors who're involved or interested in the same niche areas as you. For example, we get a steady trickle of traffic from the <a href="http://www.newbeetle.org/" title="NewBeetle.org" rel="nofollow">NewBeetle.org</a> message boards that Dede frequents. (She's the extremely proud owner of a VW New Beetle Convertible named <a href="http://www.2dolphins.com/caliente.html" title="Visit the Caliente page for more info on Dede's Volkswagen New Beetle Convertible" rel="nofollow">Caliente</a>.) And our <a href="http://www.2dolphins.com/rajblog.html" title="2Dolphins Russian Adoption Journal" rel="nofollow">Russian Adoption Journal</a> that Dede mostly runs gets quite a lot of regular readers from a variety of adoption & parenting forums and other Russian adoption blogs. In fact, she draws more traffic (slightly) on that 'niche' blog than we do on our main blog site. My wife & I have found that by including your website URL in your signature on forums, you can draw a fair number of visitors. An advantage to this is that you’re likely to get visitors who’re involved or interested in the same niche areas as you.

For example, we get a steady trickle of traffic from the NewBeetle.org message boards that Dede frequents. (She’s the extremely proud owner of a VW New Beetle Convertible named Caliente.)

And our Russian Adoption Journal that Dede mostly runs gets quite a lot of regular readers from a variety of adoption & parenting forums and other Russian adoption blogs. In fact, she draws more traffic (slightly) on that ‘niche’ blog than we do on our main blog site.

I find some of them (at least) are a little up themselves. To get noticed I make wp themes but even if I didn't have a website I'd still make them, I'm addicted to making things! I do want to get noticed but its not the end of the world if I dont, I've been blogging for 6 years and I'm not hugely well known now so who says I will be in the future! tbh I find most of the ‘famous bloggers’ websites boring! I have modded a couple of Wordpress plugins for my own use, and should release them, jus tthey're a bit of a mess. Interestingly, I think you're doing the right thing wiht the "Rockin? Girl Bloggers", as it's personable (looking at the My blog log thing to the side, most of them are women), and you stand out because of it. Good work! As far as making noise though, I think I'd rather 1 link from Problogger than 10 links from John Chow. I dunno, a lot of JCDC readers I find a bit lifeless. I got linked by JCDC and the amount of "Check My Blog" comments I got was annoying (half of them redirected through alexa too), whereas Problogger readers actually seem to contribute to things.
