John Chow, an internet mogul
Here’s a familiar read for most of us, John Chow’s blog about how to make money online. It’s no wonder why John has so many readers, his blog will show you what ads work and what ads don’t. He also does ReviewMes, to which he is nothing short of brutally honest. He will link to your blog if you review his blog. A very nice return, if you ask me.
That is one reason why I’m a regular visitor at his site. There are tons of comments, too, so he is definitely doing something right.
So, I was on a path to figure out what makes his blog so special. Ya know what I found out? It’s his personality. He doesn’t mask the fact that he has poor grammar or the honest reviews that he does. He comes off as totally personable and has fun with his blog.
At any given time, you can visit his blog and see his mug while holding/wearing some random advertisement. This guy is like walking advertising space. I’m surprised that GoldenPalace.com hasn’t asked him to tattoo something on his forehead for a gazillion dollars, yet.
He also brings challenges to his blog, like “how far can you kick his butt?“. That was pretty funny. What makes his site even better is that he provides a boatload of information to those of us looking to step it up a little.

I am aware of his reach and his current PR6 ranking, but his content does not impress me anymore. I kow a lot of people see the value in his site, but I actually get more helpful information off of other blogs, including yours.
Thank you Angie, I love that readers find my site interesting and helpful. I really did this to get some of the traffic that he has because he offers a link back with my anchor text. I do read his site, though, but have found that once bloggers aren’t beginners anymore, it’s harder for them to understand our points of view.
Johnchow.com is not just about information related to make money online. The blog actually is about his personal life. But the problem is his put his title tag as Make Money Online with JohnChow… and spread the words that his blog is in ‘make money online’ niche. That’s why people who visit his blog, looking for money making info often disappoint.

Money Maker Blog, I agree somewhat. He hasn’t given us a whole lot of tips lately to learn how to make money online. I wanna know secrets!
You have to keep it fresh to stay on top. There are so many cool up and comers that are on the track to far surpass Chow. I look at Jane May, for example. Her stuff is more useful, higher quality and much more sincere.
I hope Jane May does surpass John Chow. She seems more down to earth and cares what responses people leave on her blog. I hope I can one day do what she’s done for blogging for women.
