5 Ways to Share the Love With Your Blog

  1. Be a Follower - Support the I Follow movement and install the DoFollow Wordpress plugin. The DoFollow plugin removes the ‘nofollow’ attribute from the links in your comments. Encourage your readers to leave a comment on your site by offering them a backlink in return for their opinion.
  2. Give Credit Where Credit is Due - Link to those posts that give you inspiration or are related to your topic. Link to the original poster even if you don’t agree with what they say; you might just start a discussion. Imagine that!
  3. Share Your Ideas - Do you have an awesome idea that you can’t implement? Maybe you need some help? Ask for help or throw the idea out there, maybe someone will be willing to get you started or do it for you.
  4. Help Spread the Word - Tell your readers about a cause you are passionate about or spread the word about something really interesting.
  5. Highlight your Favorites - The blogs you read every day say as much about you as the content of your own blog. Use your blogroll to give credit to those blogs that keep you coming back every day.

Here are two things you should keep in mind when sharing the love:

  1. Don’t expect anything in return - Karma won’t smile on you if you have expectations of a return on your actions. Give freely and good things will come to you. As they say: Do unto others.
  2. Beware of Bad Links - Just because you are kind enough to share the love doesn’t mean you should let yourself be taken advantage of. Keep an eye on the backlinks you are providing and remove any that are questionable or inappropriate.

It’s time to put these tips into practice. Go now and share some love with a stranger.

What I would also like to add to this is that when linking to other bloggers, use something cool as anchor text. Like, per se, linking to problogger with “making money online”, I hear that’s good for SEO.

Good point! I’m sure the recipient would appreciate the link more if you had already optimized it for SEO. :)
