Remember this when commenting!

If a blog has a nifty top commentators thing to keep track of top visits, then that’s just like free press.

I don’t remember where I saw this, but it’s still a really useful idea when commenting on other people’s blogs. When commenting, instead of putting your real name in the name box, put something that makes people want to click. Like for instance, you see how one of my top commentators is Romantic Ideas, and it’s a free link back to his page.

This is especially good for SEO purposes. So, go for it, comment away!!

Well, now. This is a great idea and although I have seen a lot of people doing it, I have neer thought to try it myself. I guess I just needed a differnt perspective on the issue. Of course, here I am still using my real name. ;)

    I love this plugin! ;)
I moved my blogroll to a separate page not so long ago, and installed the top commentators plugin, I didn’t see an increase really, maybe because my top commentators are in the 60-65 comments a month, so maybe I should change that to “per week”, so people will feel 3-10 is “achievable” as opposed to 60-65 hehe

I usually use my real name, too, Angie, so don’t feel left out there. On some sites, I tag my name as ‘blogging basics’ to get that SEO link lovin’.

Not sure where I read it, Neo, but it was a nifty idea that I wanted to pass on to other people.

Jonathan, I love the plugin, too. That’s a great idea, I’d be scared off as a new reader to your site, thinkin’ I had to put in a gazillion comments to be recognized. While it’s great that you get so many comments, I’d be more likely to comment if it was reset weekly. :)

    Good point! :)
Changed the topcommentators things to weekly instead of monthly
