Putting yourself out there

I’m going to use Problogger as an example here, mainly because I think Darren’s blog is the best blog dedicated to bloggers who want to make money online.
Anytime you visit Problogger, you can see Darren’s mug staring at ya, smiling (a little). He doesn’t come off cocky or snarky and he doesn’t make you feel like he’s the God of all things BLOG.
He puts himself out there. Kind of like, ‘my site is cool, I’m not THE expert, but you can learn something here.’ You know what they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. In his part, Darren looks like any regular guy out there. This makes his blog more personable, in return, we subscribe to his RSS and visit and comment on his site regularly.
How many of you put yourself out there? How many of you dive into sites because you know what the author looks like? Are you more likely to read a blog if there is a picture of the author or if you find them attractive?
