Review: Move over TLA, here comes TNX

Well, maybe not move over, but you know what they say about catchy headlines. TNX.net aims to be the source that all bloggers are going to use to sell text ads on their blogs.

So I checked it out.

Signing up was easy and I was approved in a matter of minutes. My next step was to check out the requirements for using their service.

Pagerank: You must have a pagerank of at least 1, first of all. My sites all range from 1 to 5, so we’re a go on this one.
Number of visitors: Currently, there is no restriction on this. Good news for me for this blog.

Links: The links must be visible. No below the fold text links. They want their links to be noticed. I can understand this, if I’m shucking out hard earned cash for a text link, I want it in plain sight.

Theme: No erotic sites or pyramid schemes. Check.

PHP: Your blog must have PHP support, otherwise the ads won’t work. Check.

I moved forward to get the code and install it, and that was rather painless. Notice that nothing appears on your site until it is indexed by their system and links are sold to advertisers.

So how much can I make? I took a look at the income calculator and was hoping that when I plugged in Earsucker.com, which is a pagerank 5 domain, it would tell me that I could make a ton of money with their service. Instead, here is what I got:

I have to enter in the amount of pages and their specific pagerank? Say what?

Moving right along…..

The best part about the service is their affiliate program:

The purpose of any partner program is to attract new participants and advertisers to the system. When you bring a new webmaster to the system, you will receive 13.3% of all “TNX-points”, he/she will earn in the future (a reward for referring an advertiser is also available). This amounts to almost half of the system’s comission! Interest is paid for the lifetime.

So if you want to check TNX out for their text link ads, then do so at your own risk. I signed up just to pimp out the service and get some free advertising!

You didn’t have to go to the BlogWorld Expo to network

You don’t have to attend an event like BlogWorld to be able to reach out to other bloggers and network. They are now just showcasing their ability to drink massive amounts of alcohol and take pictures of who they met.

Sure, it’s great to actually get out and meet people, don’t get me wrong. The thing is, you can get your blog recognized by going out to other people’s blogs in the same niche and just comment. Email someone and tell them that you agree or disagree with their points of view.

Say thank you when someone links to you. Make a fuss. Stand up for your blog, say something. Let people know that your blog is out there.

Be recognized. One email can go a long way in getting your name out there. I always appreciate hearing from others in my niche, whether if it’s to agree or disagree with what I have to say.

You can also offer to do a guest post for another blogger. Some bloggers may be open to this idea and allow you free reign on their blog to get your ideas out there for everyone to read. Don’t abuse this privilege, however, as they may not let you do it again.

Make a spark today.

Just kidding, but Mark has added this site to the Money Links section of 45n5.

Thanks Mark!

John Cow hacked?

If you head on over to John Cow’s site, you’ll see a ransom note for $100.00 or “the cow gets well done”.

I like my burgers well done, so chop chop, I’m in a hurry.

Pretty nice link bait if you ask me.

Clicking the Paypal button at the top takes you to a donate $1 page, made out to cownapper@johncow.com.

Okay, I’ll bite. Here’s a buck, cow.

Alexandru is keeping ShylockBlogging

Per his recent post, the webmaster of ShylockBlogging, Alexandru, has said that he’s not selling after all:

As you may know I got a BIN bid yesterday for this blog, of $4,000. I took it, but I’ve decided today not to go through with the sale. For starters, I specified PayPal or Western Union only as methods of payment, and the buyer wanted to do it with escrow.com (my country is not accepted by escrow.com). Second, I’ve been feeling remorse at selling it since I took the bid yesterday, and since this bid didn’t go through, I’m not going to reopen the auction.

I’m keeping the blog and I’ll deal with the busy period from January when I’ll get there. My original plan of having more subscribers then ProBlogger at some point (don’t go mental on me) is still standing, and I can’t wait to write again tomorrow ;).

I’m working on a plan to get this blog to the next level, so stay tuned.

Was it all just linkbait?

There is no real get rich quick way to make money online.

At the end of each month I will also be posting earnings for that month.

Important domain info - please read

Shortly, you will notice that the content for this blog will be redirected to New Blogger. This goes the same for the RSS feed. I wanted to have a central source of information for blogging that had a name grounded in helping bloggers. I was never a fan of having a personal domain with blogging resources as it’s central theme.

I’ll be contacting Feedburner shortly to have the feeds combined. No worries, I’m still going to be writing the other site, so nothing will change in that respect. As a matter of fact, if you wish to head on over to New Blogger, please feel free to see the changes that I’ve already made.

Soon you will be automatically forwarded to the new domain and it will be like nothing happened.

Thank you for your readership, I greatly appreciate all of you. Please help me make New Blogger a growing success. Without my readers, this site is just my words going out in to the abyss known as cyberspace.
